The 3D movie business never really took off as much as studios hoped. The experience wasn’t immersive enough, but virtual reality (VR) has taken the idea of 3D to a whole new level. Many viewers are excited about the possibilities and there are already a host of great short movies. Here, we will take a look at some of the best.

If you want to be terrified, then this movie will have no trouble doing just that. It gives you a terrible amount of darkness, which is a powerful experience. The movie includes genuine challenges and one of them includes not bailing out and taking your headset off. It’s a great production and horror is one area where VR can really excel.

VR Casting

Virtual reality sex movies are increasing in demand. They give users a more realistic experience, which they find more enjoyable. The porn casting niche has always been popular and this lets you explore that. BaDoinkVR are the leaders in VR porn movies and this video featuring Talia Mint would be a great place to start

White Room: 02B3

We mentioned horror being good for VR, but thrillers are great too. White Room: 02B3 is a great example that uses a simple setting with great actors. You are trapped inside a white room with a gun and the story goes from there. After that, you are taken through a thrilling journey with yourself at the center of it.

Invasion

If you’re looking for a delightful cartoon to watch, Invasion is it. It was directed by Eric Darnell, who directed the Madagascar films. This short is just as fun. It’s a film about cute aliens meeting cute bunnies and it’s a delightful adventure. It shows us the fun side of VR and the possibility of having  morecartoons in the medium.

VR Dream Treatment Follow Up Patient DCAEX431

Dreams are fascinating but this VR movie is going to feel more like a nightmare. It’s a trippy four minutes in a doctor’s chair as you feel increasingly uncomfortable. The tension created with its loopy imagery is remarkable. This isn’t horror but it’s a VR film that could well see VR uses taking their headsets off as it gets too intense.

The Dream Collector

Many stories work off a great premise. This is a story about an old man and his dog that try to fix broken dreams. It’s as delightful as it sounds, and you follow the story through to its uplifting conclusion. It’s another animation that will leave you with a smile on your face. It’s fairly simple, but that doesn’t take away from the joy of the movie.

Colosse

Colosse is a whole different type of experience altogether. It’s about a spearfisher and his interaction with a golem. The difference, however, is that you are just an observer who can go anywhere. The story will change depending on what you’re focusing on. It will read what you are looking at and change the story based on that. It’s a fascinating way to use interactive VR. Many others filmmakers will surely explore this in the future.
